We’re reaching milestones left and right over here! The most exciting of which is that I’m 12wks pregnant as of this past Saturday!!! I had my NT scan this morning, and we got these great pics of baby looking SO awesome! Baby’s heartbeat was 141bpm and as always was a beautiful reassuring sight!
We won’t know the results of the scan & blood work until later this week or possibly as late as my next OB appointment in a week.
It was especially reassuring to have the scan this morning because this past week while we were staying with family for the Holiday Ian came down with his first case of the stomach flu on Thanksgiving day which seriously sucked!!! Then, of course, since I took care of him and was thrown up on multiple times that day I succumbed to the worst case of stomach flu of my adult life (by far)… it was horrible!!! Happy 12wks of pregnancy! So needless to say, after 10hrs of vomiting I was really relieved to see baby made it through all of that okay.
Now the big question is how and when do we announce this pregnancy? Yes, our close family and friends already know, but I’m still trying to decide when to announce to the general public and facebook land. I’m so uncertain about when to make the big announcement; a part of me wants to announce within the next couple of weeks, and a part of me wonders if we should wait until more around the 18-20wk mark when we find out the sex.
Speaking of the sex, that was another question I was also back and forth on, whether to find out or not. A part of me loves the idea of waiting to find out until the baby is born. But my husband is more practical, and he’s right in terms of planning purposes that it would be easier if we knew beforehand if this baby is a girl or boy. We’ll see what happens there, but I probably will give in and find out.
Starting to feel, dare I say it, a bit excited & hopeful about this pregnancy!

sooo thrilled for you! as for announcing it, i'm a big believer in continuing to be sensitive to those around you who are struggling. so, i'd try to avoid announcing on social media....
Yay! So happy for you guys. I would suggest telling people once you start to showing (or wait until you find out what you're having). We are currently going thru IVF now trying for baby #2 and with each shot everyday, it brings back all the memories of the previous cycles.

I always panic about pregnancy announcements on FB. I announced with my first (the one we lost after birth) at twenty-six weeks, my second (rainbow) at about the same, and I am currently nearly twenty-eight weeks with our third and I'm still holding out in case something goes wrong. It's brutal. But I can't help but feel like I'll jinx myself if I post it before I feel like every t is crossed and i dotted… Another ultrasound this week so maybe after that if we get the "all clear".

We had ours this morning! The nurse said that if there was any concerns, they would send us to talk to the doctor right away, so I think it is a "no news is good news" situation. So sorry you had the flu - its amazing how resilient babies are! We are telling all of our grandparents the next time we see them, and then will put it on FB around 16 or 17 weeks after we have told everyone we want to in person. But we are starting to run into people (like at the doctors office today!) and my belly is showing, so it will not be a secret for long!
Your call on finding out the sex! That is such a personal decision! I never thought I would, but I feel we have had enough surprises already, so we will hopefully find out in January!

I had a stomach bug for a couple of days when I was pregnant with Zuzu. I knew logically that it shouldn't affect the baby, but it still freaked me out. So glad you're both doing well now.
Wow!!! This is so real!!! I think all your questions are ones we had too, except for the sex - we both wanted to know. I did FB and friends at 12 weeks I think but I kept putting it off at work and didn't tell til 16 weeks.
I'm still paranoid about everything and I'm almost 32 weeks. I think it goes with the territory. Esp in the ALI community. That stomach big sounds awful !!! You poor thing !! So happy for you:) xoxo
